Polls, requests and announcements

For JormunTL 1.2.0

Three ways to ask readers something, and one way to tell them something.

All under Community, and all optional.

Novel Requests

Community ▸ Novel Requests. Readers suggest what they would like to see.

The Novel Requests screen

On a translation site this is the clearest demand signal you will get, and it is worth switching on early even if you act on almost none of it.

A request can be tied to the coin system, so asking costs something. That turns a wish list into a vote with weight behind it, and it is the difference between twenty requests and two hundred.

Polls

Community ▸ All Polls. A direct question with fixed answers.

The Polls screen

Better than requests when you already know the options and want to know which one wins: which of three novels to start next, which day to release on.

Polls need traffic to be worth running. A poll with nine votes tells you less than reading the comments would have.

Announcements

Community ▸ All Announcements. A post type of its own, with its own archive, for things you want to say once and keep.

The Announcements list

A schedule change, a hiatus, a new series. Different from the header notice, which is one bar on every page: a notice is for now, an announcement stays and can be linked to.

The header notice can be pointed at this archive instead of carrying its own text, so the bar follows what you post. That setting is on the notice.

Discord

A link in the header or footer, set in Customizer ▸ Global. The cheapest community feature there is, and for many web novel sites the place the actual community ends up living.
