Text and Labels

For JormunTL 1.2.0

Rewording anything the theme says to a reader, including every line of the paywall.

JormunTL ▸ Theme Options ▸ Text and Labels.

Every sentence the theme says to a reader, in one place, editable. This is where you change wording that does not suit your site, rather than editing a template and losing it at the next update.

The Text and Labels tab, a list of the theme's own strings each with an empty box beneath

An empty box is not a blank label. It means “use the theme’s own words”, so you only fill in what you want to change. To show nothing at all, that is usually a switch somewhere else rather than an empty string here.

Worth going through before launch:

  • The paywall lines. What a locked chapter says to a signed-out visitor, to a reader without enough coins, and to a reader who has enough. The shipped logged-out line mentions coins generically; if your currency has a name you chose, this is where to use it.
  • Empty states. What an empty library, an empty search and an empty reading history say. These are the screens a new site shows most and the ones nobody writes.
  • Buttons and prompts through the reader-facing pages.

Everything here goes through the theme’s translation files as well, so a site running in another language gets translated strings without touching this screen.
