Site currency

Your site has its own currency. Readers buy it with real money and spend it on chapters, and it is yours to name: Spirit Stones, Lotus Petals, Ink Drops, whatever suits what you publish. The name and its icon then appear everywhere a balance or a price does, on the wallet, the buy buttons, the unlock prompt and the receipt email.

To set it up, go to Monetization ▸ Settings ▸ Coins and Unlock ▸ Site Currency.

Icon

Start here, because choosing an icon fills in the name.

Pick the ink drop and the name becomes Ink Drops. Pick the lotus and it becomes Lotus Petals. A line appears under the name field saying what it changed to, with an Undo beside it.

It will only ever replace a name that came from an icon in the first place, or an empty field. A name you typed yourself is left alone. Nothing is saved until you press Save Settings, so you can try several.

The dropdown names the currency rather than the drawing, so the list reads Dao Coins, Lotus Petals, Ink Drops rather than yin-yang, lotus, droplet.

Currency Name, and Name for one

Currency Name is the plural, because that is what almost every line on the site needs: a balance, a price, a package. Leave it blank and the icon’s name is used. Type your own and it is used everywhere instead.

Name for one is only needed where dropping the final s gets it wrong. Ink Drops becomes Ink Drop by itself and Runes becomes Rune, so most sites leave it empty. Names like Qi, Karma or Chi have no plural to drop, and this is where you say so.

Readers see

A live sample of both forms with the real icon, updating as you type. It shows a balance and a single chapter price, because those are the two places a name breaks, and the singular is the one nobody checks.

Cost per Chapter

How many coins a locked chapter costs by default. Most sites use 1.

This is a default, not a rule. An individual chapter can carry its own price, set on the chapter itself, which is what a long or a bonus chapter is for.

A note on the pairing

Nothing stops you calling your currency Dao Coins while showing a flame icon. If the name you have typed is exactly the name a different icon suggests, the screen mentions it and offers both ways out. It is a remark, not a warning: an odd pairing is usually an accident, but sometimes it is the whole point.
