Chapter 50: Losing His Temper

“Hey… don’t rush off. Let this old ancestor take a look at that girl. That voice was so crisp…” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs had woken up at some point, and apparently he was quite the lecher.

“What’s there to see? They’re just a couple of maids from the manor,” Ye Kong said, ignoring him as he gnawed on his steamed bun and walked back.

Old Ancestor Yellow Springs said angrily, “Of course you don’t care. This old ancestor hasn’t seen a woman in a hundred thousand years! A hundred thousand years! Do you know how long a hundred thousand years is?”

“You also haven’t seen shit in a hundred thousand years. Want to go look at some?” Ye Kong asked.

“Look at your lack of class. You’re completely uncultured,” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs said irritably before falling silent.

“Old Ancestor, why did you drill yourself into a magical artifact?” Ye Kong asked after returning to his room.

Old Ancestor Yellow Springs didn’t respond. Apparently he was still sulking.

“Hey, did you fall asleep again? You’re not asleep, are you?” Ye Kong sent his divine sense into his Spirit Platform and saw that Old Ancestor Yellow Springs was indeed awake. “Didn’t realize you had such a temper. What’s so interesting about those maids anyway? Besides, even if you see them, what can you do? You don’t exactly have the equipment for it.”

Old Ancestor Yellow Springs said angrily, “That’s exactly why I just want to look! You won’t even satisfy this one small request, yet you want to ask me all these questions? Fat chance!”

“Fine, I won’t ask. I don’t need you anyway!” Ye Kong wasn’t exactly even-tempered himself. He turned and left his Spirit Platform.

Since maids kept wandering by outside, it wasn’t convenient for him to practice Shadow Dance, so he could only stay in his room. He took out white paper and tried drawing spirit talismans. Even though he didn’t have the materials to create actual spirit talismans yet, he could at least increase his proficiency.

Seeing Ye Kong drawing talismans, Old Ancestor Yellow Springs let out a mocking snort. Who knows what he was laughing at. Ye Kong completely ignored him.

“Brother Ye Kong.” Before long, Lu Qin and Xiaohong came by together again.

“Godmother said you’re going into closed-door cultivation? I came to tell you not to worry. I won’t let anyone disturb you,” the little girl said. She was quite sensible and knew how to care for people.

“Right, I’ll meditate for five days then rest for one. I’m cultivating a secret martial art technique. Can’t let anyone steal a peek and learn it.”

Lu Qin naturally knew that Ye Kong’s “closed-door cultivation” meant immortal cultivation, but Xiaohong didn’t. She thought in amazement, Wow, he really is formidable! He even has secret martial arts?

“Eight Young Master, I know you find those other maids annoying. I can go chase them away for you,” Xiaohong volunteered eagerly.

Ye Kong was about to agree when a certain old ancestor who’d been silent suddenly shouted in his head, “Wow, this girl’s great! I like her! What a hot body! Her clothes can barely contain it! Look at that ass, so round and firm…”

Ye Kong suddenly felt deeply irritated. Though he didn’t want to get entangled with Xiaohong, hearing Old Ancestor Yellow Springs commenting on her like this still made him very unhappy.

Ye Kong didn’t say anything. Xiaohong didn’t know what he was thinking, so she continued, “Eight Young Master, but if I’m the one who chases them away, they’ll definitely think I… have the same intentions as them, that I’m competing with them, so…”

Xiaohong spoke quite euphemistically, but her meaning was easy to understand. What she meant was: If this girl chases them away for you, they’ll definitely think I’m interested in you too. So my reputation will be damaged, and you’ll need to compensate me. Preferably… by teaching me that dog-beating staff technique.

While Xiaohong was talking, a certain old ancestor in Ye Kong’s head was also talking. “Wow, if we stripped this girl’s clothes and kneaded her thoroughly, it would be worth losing three years of life. If we pulled off her hairpins and skirt and let this old ancestor have his fun, wow, I really want to strip her naked and then use a whip…”

“Say one more fucking word and I’ll fight you to the death!” Ye Kong could endure it no longer. He finally lost his temper and shouted out loud.

Old Ancestor Yellow Springs, that perverted lunatic, immediately shut up obediently. But because Ye Kong had shouted out loud, Xiaohong, who’d been speaking, was terrified.

“I, I, I won’t say any more, I, I, I…” Xiaohong was in a panic, not understanding what she’d said wrong to provoke such furious anger from him.

Seeing him so angry, seeming even angrier than any previous time, she was done for! She’d probably end up worse than Sister Ma today!

“Eight Young Master, spare me! It’s Xiaohong being ignorant. Xiaohong should have volunteered to help Eight Young Master without conditions. I shouldn’t have tried to blackmail you. Eight Young Master’s secret martial arts aren’t meant for servants like us to learn. Eight Young Master, spare me! This servant will never dare have such presumptuous thoughts again…” Both shocked and frightened, Xiaohong dropped to her knees in front of Ye Kong, crying out her pleas while clutching his leg.

“What are you doing? I wasn’t talking about you,” Ye Kong said. Then, realizing there were only three people in the room, he quickly said to the bewildered Lu Qin standing to the side, “I wasn’t talking about you either.”

“I know you weren’t talking about me, but Sister Xiaohong meant well. Don’t punish her,” Lu Qin said. This was the first time she’d seen Ye Kong lose his temper like this, so she pleaded on Xiaohong’s behalf.

Ye Kong smiled bitterly. “I really wasn’t talking about her.”

Ye Kong was sitting in a chair while Xiaohong knelt shaking his leg. After three shakes and two tugs, Xiaohong’s full, voluptuous body had shrunk right between Ye Kong’s two knees.

At such close distance, with her moving pleas, and that upturned face so pretty and earnest, Ye Kong was suddenly reminded of many years ago on Earth, when a young lady knelt before him, swallowing and looking up at him at the same time.

Ye Kong’s heart stirred, and his two knees involuntarily closed somewhat, clamping Xiaohong’s body between them.

“Xiaohong, I really wasn’t talking about you.” Ye Kong’s hand quite naturally rested on Xiaohong’s head. Her clean, soft silky hair felt wonderful to touch.

Xiaohong had been scared by him. Wiping away tears, she said, “Eight Young Master, this servant was wrong.”

“You weren’t wrong. Ah, I really wasn’t talking about you.” Ye Kong’s hand wanted to slide down along Xiaohong’s smooth hair, but he suddenly remembered Lu Qin was right beside them.

He turned to look at the little girl. Good, she hadn’t noticed. Hehe.

Only then did Ye Kong continue, “Sister Xiaohong, I really wasn’t angry. You want to learn martial arts, right? Forget the Beggar Clan’s dog-beating staff technique. I can teach you even the Eighteen Dragon-Subduing Palms or the Nine Yin White Bone Claw. Come on, get up quickly.”

“Really?” Xiaohong looked up sharply, her tear-filled eyes now showing joy. But remembering Ye Kong’s temperament that could flip like a dog’s face, she quickly lowered her head again. “This servant doesn’t dare…”

When Xiaohong lowered her head, the snow-white nape of her neck visible in her collar made Ye Kong’s heart stir again.

“Get up. As long as you sincerely help Eight Young Master, he’ll teach you,” Lu Qin came over and helped Xiaohong to her feet.

“Thank you, Eight Young Master.”

“Good. Now go help me chase away those maids. I’m going into closed-door cultivation too. Don’t disturb me unless it’s important. If something comes up, have Little Qin come get me. When my skills are fully developed, I’ll naturally call for you both.”

Xiaohong had originally thought Eight Young Master’s temper wasn’t as bad as the legends said, but after today’s encounter, she became much more cautious.

As soon as the two girls left, Ye Kong inserted the spirit stone into the control platform, activated the formation, and began meditating.

“No wonder you got so angry. Turns out you like that girl too,” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs cackled strangely.

“I do not. Stop talking nonsense.”

“Tch, your hand couldn’t bear to let go,” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs mocked. “But this old ancestor has gone too long without a woman. In the past, no matter how beautiful a mortal woman was, I wouldn’t [stolen content]have looked twice! Let me tell you, this old ancestor has even played with Shadow Clan beauties!”

“Shadow Clan?” Ye Kong’s attention was caught when he heard this. He asked, “A hundred thousand years ago, the Shadow Clan hadn’t gone extinct yet?”

To his surprise, Old Ancestor Yellow Springs asked in shock, “The Shadow Clan has already gone extinct?” Then he gave a cry of great delight. “Wohoo! The Shadow Clan is extinct! No one will hunt me down anymore! Haha!”

“The Shadow Clan was hunting you? Why were they hunting you?” Ye Kong asked curiously.

“Because, because… I got it on with two Shadow Clan beauties, that’s why,” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs said, clearly not telling the truth.

Ye Kong knew he wouldn’t get honest answers from him, so he laughed. “Bragging. You probably stole something from them. Look how poor you are. A Nascent Soul cultivator without even a treasure artifact, leaving behind just a few spirit stones and a broken sword.”

“Tch, listen to you. You think that storage pouch was mine? You think a mid-Nascent Soul cultivator would still use a storage pouch?” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs began recounting proudly.

“Back then I was surrounded and attacked by eight Shadow Clan high-level warriors. This old ancestor was careless for a moment and had my storage ring snatched away. That battle was earth-shattering! In the end, they had the numbers. This old ancestor was outnumbered. My treasure artifacts were all destroyed. But I still managed to kill two Shadow Clan warriors and escape their encirclement. Now tell me, who’s more impressive?”

Ye Kong ignored him and asked, “So whose storage pouch was it?”

Old Ancestor Yellow Springs said, “I happened to escape to that cave and found a Barbarian Tribe cultivator there. I killed him and took his stuff. But my physical body really couldn’t hold on any longer, so I had no choice but to store my Nascent Soul and cultivation in that garbage little sword.”

“So that’s how it was.” Ye Kong nodded. No wonder Old Ancestor Yellow Springs’ remains only had this little bit of stuff.

Thinking about it, he asked again, “Spiritual energy can be stored in magical artifacts? Also, Nascent Soul stage only gives eight hundred to a thousand years of lifespan. How could you slumber for a hundred thousand years?”

“Because this old ancestor is impressive! I’m skilled!” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs was clearly bullshitting again, but Ye Kong had no way to force answers from him.

“Alright, you’ve asked me so many questions. It’s my turn to ask you a few,” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs said.

“Fine, ask away.” Actually, Ye Kong himself had only just stepped into the cultivation world. Asking him was almost no different from asking a block of wood.

Sure enough, he couldn’t answer the first question.

“How did the Shadow Clan go extinct?”

“Uh… don’t know.”

“What’s the current situation of Cangnan Continent’s cultivation world?”

“Uh… the situation is rather complicated. It’s a long story.”

Old Ancestor Yellow Springs didn’t get answers to either of his most pressing questions. He said angrily, “Then you must at least know what kingdoms exist on Cangnan Continent now, which kingdom you’re in, what cultivation sects back it, and how many cultivation families are nearby?”

“Oh, I know a bit about that,” Ye Kong quickly said. “The kingdom we’re in is called An Kingdom. The emperor is An Rushan. There’s another kingdom nearby called Wu Kingdom. As for the backing cultivation families, I have no idea. But I know to the north there’s a place called Yellow Province, where there’s a cultivation family surnamed Wan.”

“And?”

Ye Kong’s face reddened. “That’s all… I only just started cultivating. I’m busy to death every day. Where would I have time to care about all that? I’m just a low-level rogue cultivator. Would I dare snoop around randomly? I don’t even know where the nearest cultivator’s market is.”

“Useless. And you’re acting all justified about it,” Old Ancestor Yellow Springs mocked. Then he sighed and looked up at the golden book above his head, saying faintly, “So the Shadow Clan was ultimately destroyed by the Northern Clan after all.”

“How do you know? When you fell asleep, the Shadow Clan hadn’t gone extinct yet, right? Why do you say the Shadow Clan was destroyed by the Northern Clan?”

Ye Kong asked curiously. According to what he’d learned from Zhang Wude, the Shadow Clan had declined due to battles with the Demon Clan, leading to population decline. Then because the Shadow Clan had difficulty bearing children, they became fewer and fewer until finally disappearing into history.

But Old Ancestor Yellow Springs said the Shadow Clan was destroyed by the Northern Clan.
